Become a Gabriel Angel by taking the necessary training.
Gabriel Project Angels are volunteers who work with those in need of emotional and spiritual support due to an unplanned pregnancy. There is a need for angels across the diocese. The next Gabriel Project training class will be held at St. Austin Parish in Austin on July 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For more information check out the calendar of events or contact The Catholic Charities of Texas Gabriel Project Life Center at (512) 651-6100. You may also visit Diocese of Austin Gabriel Project for times and locations.
Volunteers are needed to answer and respond to calls made to the Diocesan Pro-Life Helpline. Most calls are from women facing a difficult pregnancy or women and men turning to the church for help after an abortion. There is a great need for Helpline Angels from throughout the diocese and training will be provided. Talk with our Pastoral Care Coordinator and she will help you discern if you are called to this important ministry.
Annual Events
Texas Rally for LifeHeld in Austin on or near the anniversary of Roe v Wade in January. Good Shepherd joins thousands of pro-life advocates in a walk to the State Capitol as part of the Texas Rally for Life.
40 Days for Life40 days of prayer and fasting to end abortion, held in the spring during lent and in the fall during October Respect Life month. In cooperation with Austin Coalition for Life, we sponsor training for Sidewalk Angels who stand in front of abortion facilities and educate women about their choices. Sidewalk Angels are the last chance a baby has for survival and they literally speak for those who have no voice.
Respect Life Month – October
In addition to 40 Days for Life, we sponsor the Baby Bank campaign to raise money for pro-life activities and have a “Baby Shower for Jesus” to collect baby items for the Gabriel Project.
